I made this digital poster for Design Week 2016 at my undergraduate alma mater, SUNY New Paltz. I was asked to articulate my design methodology.

Typeface: Memorial Block

This is a custom typeface I drew—named Memorial Block—based on the façade lettering of the venerable Onondaga County War Memorial in Syracuse, NY. Cast concrete inscriptions from 55 different WWI and WW2 battles adorn the building's exterior. I was able to track down the hand-drawn, original 1948 blueprints from Edgarton & Edgarton Architects with some help from the Onondaga County Historical Society.

This custom typeface was based on original, hand-drawn letterforms from Edgarton and Edgarton Architects (Syracuse, NY) from 1948.
